Diastasis Recti is a partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominis muscle commonly know as the “six pack” and is very common during and after pregnancy.
During pregnancy, the muscles in the abdomen are stretched due to the expanding uterus. This coupled with pregnancy hormones and estrogen can cause diastasis recti.
Almost 60%* of women may experience diastasis recti during or after pregnancy. While diastasis recti cannot be avoided, providing support to the expanding belly can ease it.
